Nee, deze mevrouw is niet zo klein, het is de hond die bizar groot is voor zijn ras.
het gaat om zogenaamde Oorang Airedales uit de VS. Bedacht door een meneer genaamd Walter Lingo die een allround gebruikshond wilde fokken. Ze wegen zo ongeveer het dubbele van een normale Airedale.

Reportedly Walter sold up to 15,000 Airedales per year, and by the mid-1920s he claimed to be spending $2000 per month on advertising.

Er zijn er dus nog al wat die van Oorangs afstammen.

After the Oorang Indians' collapse, Lingo continued to sell his Airedale dogs. Unfortunately, the Great Depression struck in the 1930s, prompting Lingo to scale back his business. People could no longer afford the Airedales, prompting Lingo to have approximately three hundred puppies put to sleep in 1929 alone.

Helaas is het zo dat ze niet zo gezond blijken te zijn.

Dogs sold as "Oorang" Airedales today are descended from those extra-large, poorly bred dogs of the 1930's and tend to carry the medical and behavioral problems that are all but extinct from today's Airedales bred to standard by responsible breeders.

Because of the various problems of "Oorangs" they are frequently surrendered to rescue. If you have you heart set on a larger Airedale, consider adoption rather than support an breeder propagating these lines.

Murdock is met zijn schofthoogte van 61 cm precies aan de bovengrens van de rasstandaard voor reuen, en dat op 11 maand. Ik vind hem al een 'hele hond', ik moet er niet aan denken om zo'n kalf met de energie van Murdock te hebben!

Ik geloof dat mijn vriendin in Amerika daar een hond van had. Ik zal haar eens vragen.

Hoe hebben ze die honden uit 1930 gebruikt dan, had ie nog rietjes liggen?
Zodra er PR komt kijken bij een hondenras ben ik weg, niet goed.
