Heel lang heb ik er al aan zitten denken om mijn Golden Retriever hier te gedenken, en vandaag besloten dat toch te doen. Onderstaande tekst heb ik geschreven op de avond nadat ik hem heb laten gaan.

May 1997: I'm sitting in the car with my 8 week old golden retriever puppy in my lap, now and then lifting him up, so he can look out the window. He's curious, affectionate and adorable. And he will be that way the rest of his life. He loves attention and he loves to know what is going on all the time. And he's clumpsy. Trees are never in the way, you just try to run through them... same with people, just bump into them, they'll move!
Now it's almost 13 years later, Kai, the curious, affectionate and adorable puppy is old. He has a hard time getting up from his blanket, the normal walk is a marathon these days. But hey, there's another dog, let's just lay in the grass to get muddy and play!
And then comes the day you are tired and you can't do what you want anymore. My poor little puppy. Today I said goodbye to the most loyal friend I've ever had. Love you Kai, I will never forget you. No more pain, just peace. Sleep tight my friend.
